Artist-aged, loved forever.
Questions, questions, questions…
Do I have to be “handy” to do this?
You don’t have to have any special skills to completely transform your space with an Edmund Terrence installation. A nail gun is the easiest way to install the planks. You may need someone to help hold the wood against the wall depending on how long of a plank it is or when installing a beam. You may also hire a ‘handy’ man or woman to assist, but we’re confident you can do it! It’s beyond easy. Just be sure to check your measurements.
How long will it take to install?
It depends on how many planks you are putting up, and whether or not you have to cut the wood to make room for outlets and beams. Annie put up the first wall in her pantry in 8 minutes. We were AMAZED.
Do you have kits for any kind of wine cellar?
Yes. You measure the space and we will create from scratch a perfect kit for installation. You can choose wine boxes and wine rack beams to properly store your bottles, and you can add to it over time as your collection grows!
Do you have to seal it?
No. Just put it up and sit back and admire the beautiful way the wood transforms your space.
How do you clean it?
With a soft brush or cloth. We don’t recommend applying cleaners, however.
What does “artist-aged” mean?
Terry uses numerous techniques and tools to take sustainably harvested wood and hand-age it until it appears a century old, infusing it with all the beauty that time and Mother Nature create. The aging process is his interpretation of what would happen in a barn over the course of a century.
Do I have to use a cooling system in the wine cellar?
There is no “have to” here. Some of us at Edmund Terrence are wine collectors and utilize a cooling system, especially those that live in the Northeastern part of the United States. Others don’t let wine hang around enough to be affected by the weather! Do you want to collect or simply store your wine in a beautiful space? Is the area in a cellar where the temperature may be fairly consistent or are you interested in a wine closet in your home where it might be warmer than it should for storing wine for any great length of time? Remember, we are here, ready to help you select the best option for your needs. Just contact us.
How much should it cost for me to hire a handy man to install the wood?
It depends on the size of the project, but you can expect a day rate of between $245 and $350.
Does Terry REALLY hand-distress all the wood?
Yes. With complete joy and dedication. It’s what he loves to do.
What happens if I measured wrong?
We’ll work with you, recycling the wood if we can. But please take the time to measure correctly and check your work. It’s the most important part of the process. You can always seek help from someone who wields a measuring tape like Yoda with a light saber.
Do your racks hold any kind of wine bottle?
Yes. We build the rack beams and boxes so that they can handle any type of wine bottle.
Do you work with architects and builders?
All the time. Terry’s background as a luxury builder means that we get your world. We can work with you to create an Edmund Terrence application that has award-winning potential. Bring it!
